[Get Answer] Using at least two references, explain why this would be a quantitative study rather than aqualitative study.

This is the discussion instructions
In your initial post for this discussion, devise a research question that looks for a causeand-effect relationship among variables and which relates to the family unit. Identify the
dependent and independent variables in the research question. State the hypothesis for the
study.
Using at least two references, explain why this would be a quantitative study rather than a
qualitative study.

My cause and affect question is, what effect does sexual abuse in early life experience have on a
child in adult hood? One would believe that when a child experience sexual abuse at a young age
it affect their development. The child may have difficulties with trusting other people and
forming and maintaining intimate relationships (Browne & Finkelhor, 1986). An abused child
might be more prone to get into a relationship with emotionally detached a domineering partners.
This happens because the child grows up to have a lowered self-esteem because of the abuse.
Children are put into this situation due to poor maternal care and lack of supervision. When a
child’s parent is not around it raises questions about what the child though in their everyday life.
The dependent variable in this question is sexual abuse in adulthood. Early life experience would
be the independent variables in the research question.
The hypothesis for the study is children who are sexual abuse at a young age have emotional
problems in adulthood. This is a directional hypothesis, because it states an expectation about the
direction of the relationship between the independent variable and the dependent variable.
This would be a quantitative study because there is a hypotheses to be tested. This type of
research make causal explanations and generalize across sample (Sprenkle & Piercy, 2005). A
qualitative study does not have a hypotheses.
